GNA-G Community Meeting at the 2024 Internet2 Technology Exchange
This working meeting is open to all, with the aim to gather community representatives interested in hearing more about the Global (R&E) Network Advancement Group (GNA-G) and its working groups, and learn which of them might be of interest, along with information on how to join and contribute to the groups.
Successful GREN community collaboration is witnessed in our community not just through well attended events and meetings and collaboration within working groups but also through useful software solutions, architectural models and operational platforms. Two such examples include a 20-years long collaboration on perfSONAR toolkit with an excellent example of community driven global platform with more than 2000 perfSONAR nodes and a newly initiated MetrANOVA consortium whose solution is for the first time demoed at TechEX24 Conference. They are both built on the same partnership model deployed to provide network monitoring and management solutions that demonstrate how to increase visibility of network infrastructures through global R&E driven and managed network platforms.
Another example that started as an initiative from the GÉANT project on developing open sources routing operating system for the R&E use case gathered interest from forward looking organisations interested in network programmability and after more than five years of collaboration now includes more than 30 nodes world-wide into a unique Global Platform for Labs – GP4L.
All three examples will be presented at this GNA-G side meeting and additional time will be dedicated to discussion on benefits and advantages but also limitations and other considerations that collaboration on developing, sharing and using R&E developed and supported platforms can bring.
The theme of the meeting is Collaborative Platforms. We are inviting all participants to attend the meeting and share their stories, examples and experience on this topic.
